A fundamentalist is someone who stands without compromise on the core, non-negotiable truths of the Bible. It’s about believing in the absolute authority of Scripture and rejecting anything that weakens, distorts, or denies its message.

Fundamentalism isn’t about clinging to tradition for tradition’s sake. It’s about being faithful to what God has revealed, refusing to let modern culture, academic skepticism, or worldly philosophies redefine Christianity.

A true fundamentalist doesn’t just believe the Bible. He lives by it, defends it, and rejects anything that contradicts it—whether that’s liberal theology, watered-down preaching, or the pressure to fit in with the world.

The Six Points of Fundamentalism

Historically, fundamentalism was defined by five essential doctrines. But those who take the Bible seriously recognize that biblical separation is just as vital—because if you don’t guard the truth, you’ll lose it.

1. The Bible is 100% God’s Inspired, Infallible, and Inerrant Word

2 Timothy 3:16 – “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

This is the foundation. If you don’t believe that the Bible is the perfect, complete, and final authority, then everything else crumbles.

The Bible isn’t just another religious book. It is God’s actual, breathed-out Word (2 Peter 1:20-21). It is completely without error (Proverbs 30:5). And it doesn’t need to be updated, revised, or adjusted for modern sensibilities (Psalm 119:89).

We use the King James Bible exclusively because we believe it is God’s preserved Word for English-speaking people. God promised to preserve His Word (Psalm 12:6-7), and the KJV reflects that promise. Unlike modern versions that rely on corrupted manuscripts and humanistic textual criticism, the KJV is based on the Textus Receptus and the Masoretic Text, maintaining the purity and accuracy of God’s Word. We don’t need so-called “easier” versions that dilute or alter the truth—the King James Bible is faithful, powerful, and exactly what God intended for us to have.

Many so-called Christians today doubt the Bible, question its authority, and pick and choose what they like. But a fundamentalist takes God’s Word as it is—no exceptions, no compromises.

2. The Virgin Birth of Christ

Isaiah 7:14 – “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

Matthew 1:23 – “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

Jesus Christ wasn’t just born under unusual circumstances—His birth was a miracle.

If Jesus had been born through normal means, He would have inherited a sin nature like the rest of us. But because He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, He was sinless from the start—the only One qualified to be our Savior (Luke 1:35).

Denying the virgin birth means denying who Jesus is, and without a sinless Christ, we have no salvation.

3. The Deity of Christ

John 1:1 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John 10:30 – “I and my Father are one.”

Jesus was not just a great teacher, a prophet, or a good man—He was and is God in the flesh (Colossians 2:9).

He wasn’t created. He didn’t “become” divine later. He has always been God, co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit from eternity past (Hebrews 13:8).

This doctrine is non-negotiable. If Jesus is anything less than God, then He has no power to save. But because He is God, He is able to redeem, rule, and reign forever.

4. The Substitutionary Atonement of Christ

2 Corinthians 5:21 – “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

1 Peter 2:24 – “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

The heart of the gospel is this: Jesus died in our place.

He didn’t just set a good example. He wasn’t just a martyr. He literally took our punishment on the cross, bearing the full wrath of God that we deserved (Romans 5:8).

Without this, there is no salvation. No works, no rituals, no “being a good person” can save—only Christ’s blood. And anyone who preaches a different gospel is dangerous and false (Galatians 1:8-9).

5. The Bodily Resurrection of Christ

1 Corinthians 15:17 – “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.”

If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, Christianity is meaningless.

His resurrection wasn’t a spiritual metaphor or a symbolic victory—it was a literal, physical, bodily resurrection.

✅ It proved He was who He claimed to be (Romans 1:4).

✅ It guaranteed our own future resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-22).

✅ It showed His power over sin, death, and hell (Revelation 1:18).

This is what separates Christianity from every other religion. Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius, and every other religious leader are dead. Jesus is alive.

6. Biblical Separation

2 Corinthians 6:14-17 – “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”

Romans 16:17 – “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”

A true fundamentalist doesn’t just believe the truth—he protects it. That means refusing to compromise with false doctrine, worldly influences, or disobedient Christians.

Separation is not about legalism or elitism—it’s about keeping the church pure. When churches start compromising, they lose their power, their influence, and their faithfulness to Christ.

Rejecting Compromise and Modernism

Modernism is the idea that Christianity needs to evolve with the culture. That’s exactly why so many churches today are watered down.

✅ We don’t need to change the message—we need to preach it boldly.

✅ We don’t need to blend in with the world—we need to stand out.

✅ We don’t need to "update" Christianity—we need to get back to the Bible.

True fundamentalism isn’t about being harsh or outdated. It’s about standing firm, faithful, and unshakable in a world full of compromise.

✅ Preach the truth.

✅ Reject false doctrine.

✅ Live boldly for Christ.

This is what real Christianity looks like. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
